E-foil vs kitesurfing: which should you learn first?

E-foil or kitesurfing? One needs wind and 8+ hours of lessons; the other flies in minutes with a motor. Here is which to pick — or why to try both in Ljubač.
The big difference: wind vs motor
Kitesurfing is wind-powered: you harness the Maestral with a kite, which means learning kite control, balance and wind awareness.
An e-foil is electric. A silent motor in the board lifts you above the water on a hydrofoil, with a wireless throttle — no wind required.
How fast you learn each
E-foiling is famously quick: most people are flying above the water within their first hour, because the motor does the hard part.
Kitesurfing takes longer — typically 8–15 hours to ride independently — but rewards you with a wind sport you can do anywhere there's a breeze.
Which is right for you?
Short on time, or want a near-guaranteed thrill on day one? Start with an e-foil. Want a lifelong sport powered by wind alone? Choose kitesurfing.
Many guests do an e-foil session on calm mornings and kite lessons when the afternoon thermal fills in.
Prices and courses in Ljubač
E-foil: a 2-hour Beginner course is €199, and a 4-hour Intermediate course over two days is €400, with private sessions on request.

Why not try both?
Ljubač's shallow, calm bay is ideal for both disciplines, so a single trip can cover wind-free e-foil flying and full kitesurfing tuition.
