What to wear & pack for your first kitesurfing course

What to wear and bring to your first kitesurfing course in Croatia — wetsuit advice, sun protection, and the small things beginners always forget to pack.
Do you need your own gear?
No. Your course price includes the kite, board, harness, neoprene shoes and all safety equipment, sized to you on the day.
Beginners should never buy their own kit before a first course — you'll understand far better what suits you after a few hours on the water.
What to wear in the water
In high summer most people ride in boardshorts or a swimsuit with a lycra rash top for sun and harness comfort.
In the cooler shoulder months a 3/2 mm full wetsuit keeps you warm and mobile. We can advise on the water temperature for your dates.
Sun and safety essentials
The Adriatic sun is strong all afternoon. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a cap, and sunglasses with a retainer strap.
Pack plenty of water and a snack — sessions are active, and the beach bar is there for the rest.
What to leave at home
Skip the brand-new kite and board. Lessons use premium Duotone and North gear, and learning on properly sized school equipment is faster and safer.
Loose jewellery and anything that can snag in lines is also best left in the bag.
Quick packing checklist
Swimwear or 3/2 wetsuit, lycra rash top, reef-safe SPF, cap, strapped sunglasses, a towel, water and a snack, and dry clothes.
That's genuinely it — bring yourself and a sense of adventure. Book a course and we'll send you everything else you need to know.
